






Visit to the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

Location: Johor Bahru, Malaysia
Dr Ubaid Illahi undertook an academic visit to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), supported and funded by the World Technology Universities Network (WTUN). During the visit, he delivered a seminar, engaged with students, faculty members and researchers, and learned about ongoing research activities at UTM. The visit provided valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange and for exploring future collaboration between Atlantic Technological University (ATU) and UTM, including joint research, academic engagement and other collaborative initiatives.




Visit to the University of Gavle
Date: 15–19 June 2026
Location: Gavle, Sweden
Dr Ubaid Illahi was invited to serve as a resource person in the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Applied AI: Foundations and Applications”, hosted by the University of Gävle, Sweden, under the EU GREEN Alliance. As part of the programme, he delivered a lecture on “Applications of AI/ML in Transportation Planning”, exploring how AI and ML can support smarter and more sustainable mobility systems. The programme also provided valuable opportunities for international knowledge exchange, student engagement, and future academic and research collaboration.




















1st Symposium – Towards Sustainable Mobility: Every Step Matters

To build on the momentum of World Sustainable Transport Day, celebrated every year on 26 November, the 1st Symposium – “Towards Sustainable Mobility: Every Step Matters” successfully commenced on 27 November 2025. Jointly organised by the Department of Civil Engineering & Construction and the Centre for Mathematical Modelling and Intelligent Systems for Health and Environment (MISHE) at ATU Sligo, the event brought together students, researchers, policymakers, engineers, and community members to explore practical pathways toward a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable mobility future.
Speakers: Lukasz Krzywon (An Taisce), Dr Robert Egan (SEAI), Dr Vinayak Malaghan (UCD) and John Byrne (ZEVI).
