Faizan Munawar
Faizan Munawar is a staff researcher at the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology Centre (PMTC) at ATU Sligo. He undertook his PhD studies in the Department of Mechatronic Engineering at ATU, focusing on data-driven modelling and the analysis of glycaemic variability in individuals with type 1 diabetes.
Originally from Pakistan, Faizan began his academic journey at COMSATS University Islamabad, earning a bachelor’s degree with distinction in Electrical (Computer) Engineering. He later completed a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, where he explored machine learning tools—specifically Generative Adversarial Networks—for healthcare applications.
His current research focuses on developing a digital twin of the drying stage in powder granulation using a fluid bed system. The project aims to enable real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and intelligent process control to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
