Dr Donny Hurley

Dr Donny Hurley is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Applied Physics at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Galway, with research interests in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Discrete Mathematics and Coding Theory. Donny is a Principal Investigator for the Centre for Mathematical Modelling and Intelligent Systems for Health and Environment (MISHE). He completed a BSc in Computing and Mathematical Sciences at NUI, Galway and a PhD in Mathematics also at NUI, Galway. The PhD thesis was titled “Vertex Correlation Functions for Vertex Operator Algebras”, where general solutions were found expanding on the knowledge base. Following this, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Maynooth University on the FP7 project “Dr Inventor”. On the completion of this project, he worked at ATU Sligo lecturing in Computing and Mathematical topics and was involved in the ‘eInvoicing for Islands’ funded project. Donny was also the coordinator of a masters degree in Data Science, before moving to ATU Galway where he primarily lectures in Computer Programming, Machine Learning and Statistical Computing.
