Mathematical & Computational Modelling

Mathematical and Computational Modelling is the process of using mathematical language and computer-based techniques to simulate, analyse, and predict the behaviour of real-world systems.

This interdisciplinary field is vital across many domains, including climate science, systems biology, finance, engineering, epidemiology, and artificial intelligence.

Current projects within the MISHE group focus on applications related to health and the environment including:

  • Mathematical modelling of biological systems, including bone healing and tissue engineering, and reproduction in mammals (for health and agricultural applications) .
  • Modelling of bioresorbable and drug delivery implants and their effect on human cells to develop novel medical devices.
  • Modelling of heat transfer processes for improving energy efficiency and developing novel renewable energy technologies.
